Back in February 2007 I attended the Mobile Beat Convention in Las Vegas. It was my second year in a row attending and I was looking forward to hearing a seminar that featured Peter Merry. Peter is a DJ, Author, Public Speaker and Educator. He wrote the book "The Best Wedding Reception...Ever!" - Your Guide to Creating An Unforgettably Fun Celebration. I sat down for the seminar and soon found myself very excited about what was being shared. Peter was unveiling a brand new organization, The Wedding Entertainment Directors Guild, and I was one of the first DJ's in the country to know about it. I was inspired because this new organization would allow me to set myself apart from other Entertainers in my market. I quickly got to work on the application which was a substantial undertaking and only confirmed my desire to be a member. I had to submit essays, custom audio samples, video samples, letters of reference from Wedding Professionals and former clients. I also had to be approved by the board and finally a 1 hour live interview with 4 of the directors. I submitted my application in the summer of 2007 and finally had my live interview in January 2008. I was officially accepted as a Certified Wedding Entertainment Director™ on February 1st, 2008. I am currently Oregon's only Wedding Entertainment Director.
